Would you like to work at a privately owned, four-vet practice in beautiful Darwin?

Both recent graduates and experienced vets are welcome to apply.

If the successful applicant is interested in wildlife work, there is a significant caseload seen at the practice (at least one or two cases per day). Possums, lizards, birds and more! If you do not have an interest in this area, it is not a role requirement.

The practice is well established and offers high-quality care to patients. The hospital is spacious and very well-equipped. The equipment includes dental x-ray and a new ultra-sound machine. There are two senior vets for support and a visiting specialist surgeon.

The clinic hours are 9 am to 6 pm, Monday to Friday, 8 am to 2 pm on Saturday, and 9 am to 2 pm on Sunday. The successful applicant will work an average of 4.5 days per week, and the weekends are shared between four vets.

Continuing education is encouraged, and special interests will be supported.

Salary: New graduate - $75,000 to $80,000, Vets with 1-2 years experience. $100,000pa - Very negotiable for vets with more experience. Assistance with relocation will be provided if required.

The employer is willing to assist with a work permit (sponsorship) for suitable overseas candidates. Applicants must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and be eligible for registration as a veterinary practitioner in Australia.

The practice is close to Kakadu and other National Parks. The location offers the opportunity to enjoy the laid back tropical lifestyle of the Northern Territory and its endless outdoor activities as well as great city life.

Feedback from a current employee: I have been working at this practice for ten years. Our employer is a really nice person. She is great to work for. The practice is busy, but not too busy that you can't handle the workload. We book 15-minute appointments for standard consults and 30 minutes for longer procedures. We also have adequate time for working up cases in the middle of the day. We work four days per week and on-call just once or twice a month. If employing a new or recent graduate, there will be back-up and support during the day as well as on-call. We see a good, varied caseload. We see slightly more dogs than cats. We also see rabbits, birds and wildlife. We have good, loyal clients. This is a really nice team with great nurses. Everyone is quite laid back. Darwin is a very cosmopolitan city. I find everyone here to be very welcoming. It is a small city, so it is easy to get around, and there are nice beaches for walking.
