A full-service equine hospital in country New South Wales is seeking an enthusiastic veterinarian to take on an equine internship. There is the option for this unique opportunity to be either a six or twelve month contract.

The ideal applicant will have a strong interest in equine surgery, anaesthesia and/or equine practice. Those with additional interests in radiology, assisted reproduction and podiatry/lameness are also encouraged to apply, as the internship can be tailored to gain experience and knowledge in these fields.

The successful applicant will also receive monthly reviews with their supervisor. You will see a varied caseload and get an enormous amount of support from specialists in medicine, anaesthesia, surgery and theriogenology. The practice has an excellent reputation for being able to assist interns into careers of their choice.

This full-time role will require you to participate in a one in three after-hours rota. Whilst working after-hours, you will have the support of a surgeon, medicine specialist, surgical assistant and vet nurses.

This is a large, well-organised practice that employs several specialists in both equine surgery and medicine. They offer a full range of equine services including surgery, internal medicine, imaging, ultrasound, reproductive medicine, lameness and poor performance evaluation.

The hospital has a fully-equipped equine surgery with hydraulic surgical table, two large and two small anaesthetic units, video arthroscopy and endoscopy, ECG, direct and indirect blood pressure monitors, oximetry and capnography. The purpose-built clinic is modern and includes a surgical facility with two sterile theatres, a large transfer area and four recovery stalls.

The practice is located in a country town known for equine events and festivals. The area is popular for water sports such as water skiing, sailing and canoeing.
