Would you like to kickstart your career with the support of a large team of experienced vets?

A busy practice employing 14 vets and 30 support staff is looking for a new graduate to join the team!

The successful applicant will see a caseload of 70% small animal and 30% large animal. The large animal work will be predominantly dairy cattle, some beef cattle, small ruminants and minimal horse work.

The new graduate will be fully supported by a large team of experienced vets with varying special interests, including canine reproduction, surgery, dairy medicine, and equine surgery. The team includes 100% small animal vets, 100% production animal vets, mixed vets and a registered equine specialist! As well as mentorship and support from experienced vets, the successful applicant will also benefit from a graduate development program.

This long-established practice is comprised of a main hospital, nearby branch practice, and a purpose-built equine hospital. The team see a great client base of progressive dairy and beef farmers that trust the vets with the care of their animals

The practice refers very little. They are able to diagnose and treat most things in-house due to quality equipment and the extensive experience of their team.

The role would be well suited to an enthusiastic team player who loves their patients and has empathy and respect for their clients.

The position is full-time, with nine days per fortnight to be worked. There will be a requirement to participate in the after-hours roster with time off in lieu. After hours is supported by a triage team, who answer and triage all calls meaning vets are only called for cases that need to be seen.

The practice values their employees and provides a number of additional support services, including one week's study leave, AVA membership, VSB registration and the Employee Assistance Program. Vets also benefit from paid parental leave, paid volunteer leave and various travel and retail discounts.

You will have access to a fully-equipped hospital which has recently undergone extensive renovation and expansion, including four consult rooms, a dedicated room for dentistry, imaging including CT, a huge surgical theatre and treatment area, plus hydrotherapy and rehabilitation. There are full equine surgery facilities and everything needed for cattle work.

This position is based in the Gippsland region, with nearby mountains, lakes and national parks. The practice is also only a 45-minute drive from the beautiful southeast coast and within easy reach of some excellent snow fields. The area is great for those with a love of food, wine, nature and wildlife!
