A veterinarian is required to join a high-quality 6-vet practice in a beautiful location in the Hunter region of New South Wales.

The successful applicant will work with a great team of vets and nurses who enjoy working together and supporting each other resulting in excellent care of patients. They run a very high-standard hospital with a focus on teamwork and values. There is also an emphasis on good lifestyle work balance.

The clinic is purpose-built and well-equipped with digital dental x-ray, digital x-ray, ultrasound, endoscope, orthopaedic surgery, Tonovet and more.

The practice employs 6 vets and 14 support staff. Vets are supported by very experienced nurses. Some of the vets at the practice have interests in behaviour, medicine and surgery.

The position can be full or part-time. For a full time role, the shifts to be worked would be 4 days a week, 8am to 5.30pm or 9am to 6.30pm, and 1 in 2 Saturdays.

Normal clinic hours are 8am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 12noon on Saturdays, closed on Sundays.

Partnership prospects are available for the right candidate.

The employer is willing to assist with a work permit (sponsorship) for suitable overseas candidates. Applicants must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and be eligible for registration as a veterinary practitioner in Australia.

Feedback from a vet from the UK who locumed at the practice in late 2022/early 2023:

The practice owner was fantastic, and I couldn't recommend the practice highly enough. The clients were generally lovely and very reasonable. The caseload was quite busy but manageable, with lots of surgery also, which as a locum, they don't always get you involved with, but they were great with this. The nurses are by far the best I had worked with in Australia. Very switched on, helped without needing to ask, very good practical skills, i.e. assistance with bloods, catheters, aggressive patients etc. and great with the clients. Also, helping you out with consults whenever possible. Overall there was a great team where everyone supported each other. If I wasn't in England, I would certainly consider a full time role there!

Located in a beautiful area of New South Wales, the town offers a great opportunity to explore the sandy inlets, secluded bays and protected foreshores. The area is home to many restaurants and cafes that overlook the water, and the foreshore is a popular spot for family picnics. It also offers plenty of opportunities for surfing, fishing, kayaking, sailing and stand up paddleboarding. As well as being home to some resident dolphins and green sea turtles. There are also plenty of cycling and mountain biking trails, as well as many places to explore by 4WD.
