Love small animal and cattle work - both dairy & beef? Looking for a great start to your veterinary career or looking for somewhere to consolidate your skills?

A veterinary associate position has become available at a clinic close to the beautiful coast of South Australia. Both experienced vets and new graduates are welcome to apply for this position.

The practice has a mixed caseload with approximately 50% companion animals, 25% dairy and 25% beef cattle, with the occasional sheep or horse thrown into the mix.

The employers are looking for the right person to join their team of 4 vets and 10 support staff. The team offers backup and support, especially to their newly graduated vets, with additional support from the two partners in the business who have different areas of know-how and knowledge in cattle, companion animals, equine and sheep. They can offer you the varied experience required to set you on the best path for your veterinary career.

This role would suit a vet who is interested in developing their large animal skills while also getting a good grounding in companion medicine and surgery.

The small animal caseload is interesting and diverse. Vets have the opportunity to work up cases well with digital x-ray, ultrasound, endoscope and in-house laboratory. They also perform all sorts of procedures, from routines to complex soft-tissue surgeries and orthopaedics.

The practice services a large number of dairy and beef/sheep farms. They provide services including pregnancy diagnosis, hoof trimming and lameness treatments via their two mobile hoof trimming crushes, calf dehorning, and all the normal ambulatory work in the dairy industry. They also perform plenty of bull testing, pregnancy testing and obstetrical work.

In addition to your salary package, you will receive paid AVA membership and 1 SIG, Vet Surgeons Board registration, EPA radiation license fee paid and RAA membership. You will also receive a work vehicle with all the gear you need to get out and start your career.

Applicants must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and be eligible for registration as a veterinary practitioner in Australia.

The practice is located in a major regional centre. The area has an abundance of sporting clubs and pastimes to keep you active and busy within a short driving distance. If you are into fishing, surfing or other outdoor activities like bushwalking, you don't have to go more than half an hour from town to be in some of the best spots in the south of Australia.
