Want to spend a day a month caring for koalas?
A well-established practice in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales, is looking for a vet to join the team on a full or part-time basis!
Vets at the practice are paid to spend a day each month caring for and learning more about native wildlife working at a nearby wildlife hospital.
Those with a passion for exotics also have the opportunity to work with exotic patients, with mentorship and development available in this area.
They are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal and communication skills who works well in a team. Applicants should be great problem solvers with high attention to detail and good time management.
Benefits of the role include:
- A great work-life balance (no evening, weekend or after-hours work).
- Flexible working arrangements
- Sufficient consult times with time set aside to complete notes, make callbacks and take allocated lunch breaks.
- A positive, supportive and inclusive team
- Ongoing training and development, continuing education allowance, and one week's study leave per year
Vets are well-supported by a team of nurses, with six nurses rostered on each day, as well as a practice manager, customer service representatives and a Veterinary Director who is focused on continuing education and growth.
The role offers a real work-life balance, with clinic opening hours between Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 5 pm. The practice is closed on Saturday and Sunday, so there is no weekend work or after-hours required.
The clinic has a strong reputation among a loyal client base for providing high standards of care and treatment, as well as an exceptional client experience.
The practice is purpose-built and well-equipped with in-house bloods, digital x-ray, ultrasound, dental x-ray and IM3 dental equipment, including dental radiology, which nurses are trained in.
The employer is willing to assist with a work permit (sponsorship) for suitable overseas candidates. Applicants must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and be eligible for registration as a veterinary practitioner in Australia.
The area has all the amenities you may need, such as a shopping centre, gym, schools and a cinema. Newcastle is just over a 30-minute drive away. The region is charming with a rich history, emerging food scene, thriving arts community, beautiful beaches and national parks less than an hour away; all this, just two hours from Sydney.
