Do you have an interest in small animal surgery? Would you like to escape the city and work in one of Australia's most scenic coastal regions? This could be the role for you!

A practice in Western Victoria is seeking an experienced, ambitious and enthusiastic vet to join the growing team!

Ideally, the practice is seeking an experienced small animal vet with an interest in surgery, however, recent graduates are also welcome to apply.

The team undertake a high caseload of routine and non-routine surgery. The practice is equipped to carry out orthopaedic surgeries, including TPLO's, TTA's and fracture repairs. For more complex cases, the practice sees a visiting specialist surgeon visit fortnightly.

Vets at the practice are supported and encouraged to pursue continuing education to further their skill-sets via courses and internal access to experienced senior veterinarians.

While the practice is passionate about primary case management, they also believe that working as a team is the best way to provide patient care, and as a result, vets always have support to manage cases should it be required.

The team enjoy social interaction and have fun whilst providing professional and valued service to all clients.

A full time role consists of 76 hours spread across a nine-day fortnight plus additional remuneration for after-hours. The after-hours roster is shared (1:5), and no more than one-night duty during the week. During after-hours, vets are supported by triage nurses who filter and triage calls accordingly.

The practice wants their staff to love their job and enjoy their lifestyle. As such, they place focus on work-life balance and working beyond clinic hours is not a common occurrence at the clinic.

The practice provides first opinion consultations aided by all of the toys a regional veterinary hospital requires, including digital x-ray, dental x-ray), ultrasound, endoscope, ECG, CBC/Biochem Blood machine and anaesthetic monitoring equipment. The practice is always growing and adapting to new standards of care, ensuring they have all the diagnostic tools required at a regional clinic.

Salary is dependent on experience. The salary for a vet with 5+ years of experience in a busy small animal clinic and good surgical skills can range from $100,000 - $130,000 pa + superannuation + after-hours remuneration. The salary is negotiable for those with advanced surgical skills or specialist qualifications.

On offer is four weeks annual leave, one-week conference leave, two paid volunteer days each year, paid AVA membership and registration.

The employer is willing to assist with a work permit (sponsorship) for suitable overseas candidates. Applicants must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and be eligible for registration as a veterinary practitioner in Australia.

The practice is located in one of Australia's most beautiful coastal regions; the Great Ocean Road. The area has the feel of a big country town along with all the facilities required, such as schooling, sporting, community groups, cafes, bars, restaurants and more! As well as this, Geelong can be reached within 2 hours, and Melbourne can be reached in 3 hours.
