A family-owned, well-established small animal hospital in the Hunter region of New South Wales is seeking a passionate vet to join the team.

Applications from experienced vets and new/recent graduates are welcomed.

The caseload is interesting, diverse, and can be challenging. The work is typically dogs and cats, but there are also many opportunities to expand into birds, reptiles, wildlife and pocket pets, if desired. The team are motivated to achieve gold-standard care.

Vets work alongside 15 support staff and dedicated consult nurses - there is always help within reach! Equipment includes digital x-ray, digital dental xray, ultrasound, full pathology lab and more.

Services currently include consulting, a range of routine and more complex surgeries, including orthopaedics, in-house medical treatment, grooming facilities, boarding facilities and puppy school. Opportunities to grow/add additional services and skills are always welcomed!

The team are passionate about dentals and have all the necessary equipment to make it as easy as possible - they are even in the process of designing and renovating a custom dental room!

The team are looking for someone who is driven by their love of animals and wants to provide excellent veterinary care.

The employer strives to offer staff a great work-life balance. As such, no after-hours or on-call are required. Opening hours are:

Monday to Friday: 7:30 am - 6 pm

Saturday: 8 am - 12 pm

The employer is willing to assist with a work permit (sponsorship) for suitable overseas candidates. Applicants must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and be eligible for registration as a veterinary practitioner in Australia.

The practice is located in a stunning area of New South Wales, close to the Newcastle CBD, just a short drive from the Hunter Valley, and a 2-hour drive from Sydney. The area offers many outdoor wonders, from beaches to lakes to mountains and everything in between!
